30A - Final Reflection

I think that the most formative experience was recognizing my failures. It has made me realize that you are the person you are by how you react to failure. I definitely see myself as an entrepreneur right now. I would say that I have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset with all the assignments of this class. It made me realize all the aspects that come with being an entrepreneur. I would recommend future students to actually try and put effort in their assignments if they actually want to be entrepreneurs in the future.

28A - Your Exit Strategy

1)    I intend to stay with the business for several decades. Obviously, the business would have to evolve over time to adapt to the new technologies of the world, but I believe that I would keep the business and not sell it. I would pass it down to my children if they are interested in taking over.
2)    I have selected this exit strategy because I think that no one would run your business like you would. If I were to sell it to someone, I would lose complete control of the company and stop making money off of the product.
3)    I think that this exit strategy will allow me to be more invested in the company because it is something that is mine. It would make me work harder in making it more successful.

27A - Reading Reflection No. 3

Steve Jobs by Walter Issacson

1) I never knew that Steve Jobs was so strict in the way that he wanted things done. Seeing him on the keynotes for new products, you see a very calm man but this book made me realize that's not how he was every day. I most admire that about him because he knows exactly what needs to be done and how it needs to be done but I don't admire that sometimes it could come off as arrogance against his employees.

2) The way that Steve Jobs didn't really listen to his opposers and was determined to be better than the competition is another good quality about him.

3) I was confused as to why Steve Jobs participated in the writing of the book but did not wish to edit the final product or at least read it.

4)I would ask how he came up with the importance of joining creativity and technology. I would also ask how he barely had fear for his company when he was just starting out.

5)I think that Steve Jobs would say that hard work is essential to success. He worked very hard throughout his years to build up Apple to what it is today.

26A - Celebrating Failure

1) In one of my classes this semester, I didn't do as well as I'd like to in two of my exams. I did pretty badly actually.

2) I learned that I really need to change my study habits and dedicate more time to my classes.

3) I think failure is essential to moving forward in life. It makes you a better person if you take these failures as learning experiences. I like to think that I handle failure pretty well. I don't dwell much on what I did wrong but more on what I could do in the future to prevent myself from making the same mistake over again.

25A - What's Next

Existing Market
I think that my potential product is the future. This product has not entered the market and definitely has potential.

They believe that Library West could solve the problem with extension cords.

I believe that exposing my target market to my product will spread my customer base by word of mouth. There aren’t many down sides to this product.

New Market
I could offer this to other libraries to offer to their younger visitors (children) around Florida.

They said that I should adapt the product by offering a line of different products according to what electronic device needs to be charged. Children usually have iPads and the power bank I am trying to create will be too strong for an iPad and potentially ruin it so a power bank with a smaller wattage would suffice.

This new market is fairly attractive but I believe that my existing market might have more pull. I think that the students of UF need the power banks more since there is a higher volume of people that enter and stay in the library throughout the day.
